Today, I spent 3 hours installing a heavy duty dog door, only to discover that it is loud and requires the dog to push rather hard. Carson, being the tough and intelligent street dog that he is, caught on right away. The noise it makes has scared everyone else. Tara even refused to eat in the kitchen near the new door. The  same company makes a lighter, quieter version, but it is a bit smaller. If we trade for that door, I will have to fill in or do something to take up the extra space. I looked at other brands and each company makes slightly different sizes, so, once you have a hole cut in your door, you are stuck with it and good luck finding a compatible doggie door.
