Tashi
Tashi was a Wheaten terrier of about 7 years when we got her in 2009. She had been used to churn out litters of puppies, until her owners discarded her. A local shelter took her in and spayed her and sheared off her horrible matted coat. I adopted her soon after. I had lab work done which showed she had internal parasites and a worn out thyroid. She now feels great after being dewormed and put on thyroid hormone. She is the most sweet and gentle little girl I have ever known. She is getting over her fear of being hit and kicked in her past. When we are preparing for our daily walks, she gets so excited and has a big
smile on her face as her stubby tail wags madly.
Update: Much to my dismay, I realized I was allergic to Tashi, as I am to cats. I was getting daily migraines and was thrilled when my friend of 47 years, Jan, asked to adopt her. We managed to get Tashi transported to S. Carolina. She sttled in well, Jan loves her and Jan’s other dog, Annie, has accepted her. We are very grateful knowing Tashi is getting the love and attention she deserves.
Update. Dec. 23. 2010
Tashi had always had a problem with her right ear since we adopte her in June 2009. The canal was very tight. We were constantly treating an infection. Jan continued with ear drops, but the problem got worse. Recently, her face blew up on that side and she had surgery to drain an abscess, which everyone attributed to a possible cat scratch.
She then developed drainage from that side of her face. The vet X rayed but saw nothing. Jan and he decided to let him do an aural resection on the right ear to open up the canal and prevent further infection. Much to the vet’s surprise, Tashi had a tumor growing in there, slowly closing off the canal. He removed it and now she is doing well. “Tashi” is Tibetan for “good fortune”. She is lucky to have Jan.
We want to thank Jan for caring for Tashi and spending quite a lot of money to get her the care she needed.
