Esperanza & Nina

Edgewood Longears Safehouse, a New Mexico donkey rescue, asked us if we could give a home to two burros who were part of a large group they had saved from a feedlot. Most burros at feedlots end up being bought to be used for the cruel activity of burro roping. These two were BLM “sale authority” animals, meaning they had once been wild and were offered for sale by the BLM with no strings attached or protection in place.

The ten year old jenny is pregnant, and her sponsor, Joyce,  has named her “Esperanza”. The other jenny is about 8 years old and we are calling her “Nina”. She also has a sponsor to cover her hay. Without the generosity of Nancy and Joyce, we would not have been able to take them in.

They arrived in mid January 2012 and are doing well.
