I did all the morning chores, let the dogs into the new yard to play for awhile and tried to catch up with emails. I have a lot of Lyme die-off and malaise. It is still hot, too. At noon, I decided to try booting Rene’ to soak her feet and give them a bit of a trim. Surprisingly, she was fine about the boots, but did a little hop and slammed down on my foot. I have a very bruised toe, swollen, but I don’t think broken. Tonka broke 2 of my toes last year…it just goes with the territory. I have been limping all afternoon.

I spent a lot of time on the computer networking animals in need and promoting our hay drive. Susan Monty will be donating 3 prints of our horses to use as thank you gifts.

We need ~$3500 to  get from late October through March. I think we will give all the people who donate through the Stay Classy link a chance to receive some artwork and collectibles. You cannot have “raffles” online, but we can randomly pick  some donors to send thank you gifts to. So, from now until the end of October, we will be having our campaign. As part of this event, you can create a personal fundraising page and raise money for the cause.

I need to get the vet out in the next week or so for our annual inspection, renew the Az. Equine Rescue License, examine the dogs and take blood for thyroid checks, and check Raven, who seems like he may have some joint issues. Unfortunately, he was raised on straight alfalfa and the mineral imbalances can cause DOD (developmental orthopedic disease). When I handle his feet, his joints crackle and he wears his hooves abnormally, which can both be signs of joint damage. It would be a shame, as he is only 5 and was never even ridden. The ignorance out there breaks my heart, so many animals suffer because people do not do research on proper care, even though they may mean well. C’est la vie.

Helloooo from Raven!

I am going to limp through washing my dishes and dog dishes and try to maybe get 8 hours sleep for once. LOL.
