I took Maggie and Birdy to the vet very early in the morning. Maggie had “while you wait” surgery on a tumor on her throat. She now has a 5 inch suture line and the bill was $330. Birdy got a blood sample drawn which I sent to hemopet.org for a thyroid profile. It took 3 of us to hold him down for the blood draw. He was so thrilled to see the vet and the tech that he went absolutely wild. We test all new dogs for thyroid disease because it is so prevalent and can cause behavioral issues, too.  Some of Birdy’s aggressive attitude towards Carson may be thyroid related. Or, they  may just both be too much alike in their dominant personalities. Keeping them separated is extra work, but there is no other solution right now. Birdy seems happy and this sure beats being put to sleep, as he was scheduled to die three weeks ago.
